Quang Ngai is ready to ensure the safety of people and protect the environment when discovering 3 gas tanks drifting ashore.

On November 27, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province informed that it had issued a document requesting relevant departments, branches and localities to urgently conduct surveys, assessments and soon have a plan to handle 3 tanks (suspected of containing chemicals) drifting ashore in Le Thuy village, Binh Tri commune, Binh Son district.

At around 12:00 on November 24, while patrolling the border, Binh Thanh Border Guard Station, along with functional forces and local people, discovered 3 white, cylindrical metal tanks, measuring 6 x 2.5m, drifting to the coastal area of Le Thuy village, Binh Tri commune. The 3 gas tanks each had an empty weight of over 3,500kg. Externally, these tanks were identified as pressure tanks, equipped with pump valves, discharge pipes, pressure gauges and protective iron frames. In addition, each tank had a lead seal, a danger warning symbol and other information about the weight and address of the gas tank manufacturing and trading unit.

After discovering the tanks, Binh Thanh Border Guard Station mobilized local people to use anchor ropes to secure them to the dike body, to prevent these objects from continuing to be drifted by large waves, posing a danger to structures and ships operating at sea.

At the request of the Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command regarding the tank (suspected to contain chemicals) drifting ashore, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Military Command, Provincial Police... to urgently conduct a survey, assessment and soon have a handling plan to ensure the safety of people and works near the area where 3 strange objects (tanks - suspected to contain chemicals) were discovered drifting ashore, especially for the Dung Quat Oil Refinery project.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested information about this incident so that people know not to approach the area where strange objects drifted, as well as to find the owner and determine the origin of the three strange objects.
