Initial information shows that the accident occurred at around 1:00 p.m. on December 13, when a line of vehicles was traveling on Phu My Bridge, heading from District 7 to Thu Duc City. While going down the bridge, two trucks and a container suddenly collided. One truck then crashed into the side of the trailer.
The impact of the accident caused prolonged traffic congestion. It was not until nearly 4 p.m. on December 13 that District 7 authorities basically cleared the scene of the accident.
Previously in August 2024, at this bridge, there was a series of accidents involving 8 vehicles, causing 3 vehicles to burn down, paralyzing traffic for many hours.
Phu My is the largest cable-stayed bridge in Ho Chi Minh City, spanning the Saigon River, with a total investment of 2,100 billion VND, starting in 2005 and completed after 4 years. However, this vital route is overloaded, and serious traffic jams often occur when accidents occur.
