Pulling Metro Line 2 to the Northwest Urban Area
The fourth line is expected to start construction at the end of 2026, Metro No. 2 (Tham Luong - An Ha - Northwest Urban Area section) is about 30km long. Preliminary total investment is about 3.37 billion USD.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has assigned a joint venture of investors to research and prepare project dossiers. The investor proposed to implement it in the form of a construction-transfer (BT) contract, paid for by land fund, and at the same time combine urban development according to the TOD model along the route.

Currently, the two sections Ben Thanh - Tham Luong and Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem of Metro Line 2 have been started, creating a premise to continue extending the route to the Northwest.
When completed and synchronously connected, Metro Line 2 will form an urban railway axis in the Southeast - Northwest direction, increasing radial connectivity, while creating momentum for the development of new urban areas and satellite cities.
