National Highway 13 is adjusting the median strip to have 4 lanes in each direction

Ho Chi Minh City - A section of about 9 km on National Highway 13 has been completed and expanded to 8 lanes, the construction unit has adjusted the median strip to ensure 4 lanes on each side.

On August 12, recording on National Highway 13, the section from Ong Bo bridge intersection to Le Hong Phong intersection, the traffic situation was quite smooth, vehicles circulated stably, and no congestion occurred.

This is the first section on National Highway 13 (old Binh Duong province area) to be expanded from 6 to 8 lanes. The road surface expansion helps increase traffic capacity, while creating conditions to reorganize lanes in a more balanced direction between the two directions.

According to records, currently the direction from Binh Duong to the center of Ho Chi Minh City has 3 lanes, traffic often experiences congestion during peak hours. While the opposite direction is the National Highway 13 expansion site, so there are 5 lanes, the road is wide, so vehicles can conveniently travel.

To balance lanes between the two directions, the investor is currently adjusting the median strip, redistributing the road surface, towards a plan where National Highway 13 has 4 lanes in each direction.

In the Thien Hoa intersection area, many precast concrete median strips are being transported to the road, and the construction unit is installing new hard median strips to redistribute lanes.

According to the deployed plan, after the new median strip is fully installed, the old median strip will be relocated. The cleared road surface will help the direction from Binh Duong to the center of Ho Chi Minh City have 4 lanes, vehicles have more traffic space, and improve congestion.

The adjustment of the median strip is carried out in the context of National Highway 13 being expanded to meet the increasing traffic demand on the route connecting the North of Ho Chi Minh City with the center of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to records, currently in the sections under construction to install medians, there are construction signs. Vehicles are still allowed to circulate through this area. However, people when moving on National Highway 13 need to pay attention to observation and reduce speed to ensure safety.

It is known that the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13 from 6 to 8 lanes, a section nearly 15km long through Binh Duong (formerly), started in early 2022. The project is being implemented to expand from Ho Chi Minh City to Thu Dau Mot. The project has a total investment of 6,255 billion VND invested by Becamex Industrial Investment and Development Group - JSC in the form of BOT. This project is expected to reduce traffic congestion at the gateway to the center of Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, it creates momentum for urban and economic development in Lai Thieu, Thuan An, Binh Hoa, Thuan Giao, Thu Dau Mot wards.

Currently, the 9 km section from Ong Bo bridge intersection to Le Hong Phong intersection is basically completed and expanded to 8 lanes. The remaining section has completed site clearance. The investor and construction unit are accelerating construction progress. It is expected that the entire project will be completed this year.
