Spring on the highways
Present at the construction site of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway, part of the North - South Eastern Expressway Project, at the end of the year, we could not help but be moved when witnessing the simple, hasty lunch of the construction workers.
Lunch was mixed with sweat, a little homesickness, but above all was the determination to finish the project before the deadline. Mr. Nguyen Van Duc - from Thanh Hoa shared that this year, he and many other workers will work through Tet. For Mr. Duc, celebrating Tet at the construction site has a very special atmosphere.
"Every time I return to my hometown in Thanh Hoa, I feel so proud to travel on the North-South Eastern Expressway, a road that I contributed a small part to completing. Therefore, even though we cannot return home for Tet, we always feel warm and more determined to complete the project on time," Duc confided.
Mr. Do Xuan Ha - Commander of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway Project, Thinh Vuong TVT Joint Stock Company - said that the biggest difficulty the unit encountered during the construction of the expressway was the harsh weather in the Central region. Today is sunny, tomorrow is rainy, and then it rains again is a common thing, so whenever the weather is favorable, the unit takes advantage to speed up the progress. "Thanks to that, the workload has now reached more than 90%, exceeding the set schedule" - Mr. Do Xuan Ha said.
Undertaking the construction of 20km of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway through Quang Tri province, Truong Thinh Group has so far paved 13km of the road surface, with the remaining 7km in progress. Mr. Thai Anh Giang - Commander of Package XL02, Truong Thinh Group - said that the unit is focusing on completing the main items including filling 200,000m3 of roadbed soil, mainly at intersections; building overpasses. If the weather is favorable, by the end of January 2025, most of the project items will be basically completed, except for the project intersection connecting to DT 75 road.
Mr. Mai Quy Khanh - Deputy Head of Project Management Department 4, Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board - said that after nearly 2 years of construction, the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway has taken shape, with many sections paved with smooth asphalt. Despite difficulties and obstacles in site clearance, as soon as the project was handed over, the units started construction, including at night, so the progress was guaranteed, with some contractors ahead of schedule. The units set a goal of completing the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway project by April 30, 2025.
Spread the spirit of 500 days and nights
Not only at the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway construction site, but also at all expressway construction sites, workers will work through Tet to put the expressways into operation soon. That spirit comes from the Government's launch of the "500-day and night campaign" to complete 3,000km of expressways.
The emulation campaign aims to create a vibrant atmosphere, effectively carry out the emulation movement "promoting the development of synchronous and modern infrastructure; practicing thrift, fighting waste", successfully achieving the goal of putting 3,000 km of expressways into operation by 2025, creating a premise to strive to put 5,000 km of expressways into operation by 2030 in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
Speaking to Lao Dong, a representative of the Ministry of Transport said that immediately after the Prime Minister's call, the Ministry of Transport actively participated in spreading the spirit of determination. The Ministry of Transport issued a Plan to respond to the peak emulation period, implemented from August 2024, with a preliminary review in December 2024 and a final review at the end of 2025.
Up to now, for the North-South Expressway project in the 2021-2025 period alone, the unit has implemented about 58,721 billion VND, reaching 60.8% of the contract value, basically meeting the required progress. Some projects have good output and construction progress such as: Bai Vot-Ham Nghi; Vung Ang-Bung; Bung-Van Ninh; Chi Thanh-Van Phong and Van Phong-Nha Trang. With the highest determination as at present, the goal of 3,000km can be completely achieved in 500 days and nights as launched by the Prime Minister.
