Exploiting Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, rescuing traffic jams on National Highway 51
On October 24, according to Lao Dong reporters at the construction site, construction units are speeding up the completion of the final items of more than 7km of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, the eastern branch, passing through Dong Nai province, to put it into operation.
According to information from the Southern Expressway Management Board, more than 7km of Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway - the section from the intersection of Phuoc An port entrance to National Highway 51 (bordering Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) is expected to be opened to traffic and temporarily exploited in November 2024.
After being put into temporary operation, the 7km Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway (package A6.4 and package A7) is expected to "rescue" traffic jams at the intersection of National Highway 51 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
Vehicles will have more options to avoid traffic jams.
Vehicles traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Ba Ria - Vung Tau pass Cat Lai ferry onto Dong Nai province's internal roads to reach the intersection of Phuoc An port and then onto Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway towards National Highway 51, near the border of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
In addition, vehicles traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, if they want to avoid the frequent traffic jam at the National Highway 51 intersection, should turn onto Road 319 and then onto the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, to return to the National Highway 51 intersection, near the border of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
More than 3.5km of Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway passes through mangrove forests
According to the reporter's records, in the 7km of the expressway that will be temporarily exploited, 3.5km will go through mangrove forests with very green mangrove and cypress trees (in Long Thanh district, Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai).
Mr. Dang Huu Vi - Director of the Southern Expressway Project Management Board said that the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway has about 3.5km passing through a mangrove forest. During the construction process, about 15 hectares of forest must be replanted to replace it.
Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway is 58km long through Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and Long An, connecting the Southeast and Southwest regions.
The project has a total investment of about 30,000 billion VND.
For the section through Dong Nai province, there are 3 packages A5, A6 and A7. Up to now, package A5 has been basically completed, contractors are waiting for acceptance to hand over to the investor, package A7 has been basically completed.
Package A6 is divided into 5 small packages including 4 construction packages (A6.1, A6.2, A6.3, A6.4) and a package for construction of traffic sign safety system, road markings, lighting system (package A6.5).
Regarding progress, package A6.1 has been basically completed, package A6.4 will be completed in November 2024, package A6.3 will be completed in 2024 and package A6.2 will be completed in January 2025.
Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) proposed that the Vietnam Road Administration approve the temporary traffic organization plan for the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway with 2 sections from Km 0-000 - Km 3+420 (Trung Luong intersection - National Highway 1 intersection) and Km 50-530 - Km 57-581 (Phuoc An intersection - National Highway 51 intersection) from November 2024.
