On the afternoon of October 3, a leader of the People's Committee of Ky Lac commune said that on October 2, in the tree-growing hill area in Lac Thang village, Ky Lac commune, people discovered 9 cows that had died abnormally and reported it to the authorities.
After inspection, local authorities determined that all nine cows were struck to death by lightning and showed no signs of poisoning.
Of the 9 dead cows, 5 belonged to Mr. Le Van Thinh's household and 4 belonged to Mr. Le Van Thanh's household.
According to the leader of Ky Lac commune, initially the local government supported each family with a dead cow with 1 million VND, and at the same time called on people to help consume beef to help those two households reduce the damage.
Through initial calculations, people have consumed the cows, so the two households with dead cows have reduced their losses by about 70% compared to selling live cows.
