On August 19, the An Giang Provincial Steering Committee for the exercise organized the Tien Hai commune civil defense exercise in 2026.
With the topic "Armed forces coordinate with departments, agencies, branches, unions and people of Tien Hai commune to practice disaster prevention and control and search and rescue", focusing on checking the leadership, direction, administration and mobilization of the overall strength of the entire political system in responding to storm situations directly affecting the island commune.

In the mechanism operation part, the Party Committee, government and the Civil Defense Command of the commune organize the handling of situations according to plans; deploy tasks for forces, prepare to respond to storms, ensuring closeness to the characteristics of the sea and islands of Tien Hai.
The highlight of the drill is the live-fire drill to respond to storms in the Bai Nom area, Group 1, Hon Tre hamlet. Military forces, Police, Border Guard, militia and self-defense forces, Fatherland Front, mass organizations and related forces coordinate to practice many practical contents. Organize notification, propaganda, call, guidance and diversion of ships and boats into storm shelters; fire flares to announce storms; use canoes and specialized ships to approach and guide vehicles operating at sea to safe anchorages. Situations of rescuing people in distress at sea are also included in the drill to improve coordination and handling capabilities when incidents occur.


According to the drill plan, around the aquaculture area of the commune, there are more than 600/640 cages and rafts with people living, posing very high requirements for the ability to organize evacuation and ensure the safety of people's lives when natural disasters occur.
The forces also practiced evacuating people on the island from high-risk areas to shelters at Tien Hai Primary and Secondary School; prioritizing support for the elderly, children, pregnant women, sick people and those facing difficulties in movement. At shelters, the forces organized the reception, arrangement of accommodation, ensuring security and order, medical care, food, drinking water and essential necessities for people.
Along with evacuating people, military forces, militia and self-defense forces and forces participating in the exercise practice help people reinforce and brace houses.

Speaking to draw experience, Colonel Nguyen Thanh An, Deputy Commander of An Giang Provincial Military Command, Standing Committee of the Provincial Exercise Steering Committee, highly appreciated the spirit of responsibility and preparation of the Party Committee and government of Tien Hai commune and participating forces.
Colonel Nguyen Thanh An requested the forces to regularly practice, improve coordination and coordination capabilities; pay special attention to information work, calling for ships and boats, managing people and vehicles operating at sea, evacuating people in cages and dangerous areas, with the highest goal of protecting the safety of people's lives and minimizing property damage.
