In a series of propaganda activities on the Peak period of preventing and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, on November 8, the Ministry of Quarter- more Commands (BTL) of Coast Guard Region 4 coordinated with the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone to organize propaganda on the law on preventing and combating IUU fishing to more than 150 officers, civil servants, vehicle owners, captains, and fishermen in the area.
Through propaganda to raise awareness among cadres and people about the Party's viewpoints, policies and guidelines and legal regulations on preventing IUU fishing; Building awareness and responsibility to comply with the law in seafood exploitation activities for fishermen and vehicle owners. Thereby creating a synthetic atmosphere and strength, joining hands to remove the "Y yellow card" for the Vietnamese seafood industry.
At the conference, the Reporter of the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 informed delegates, vehicle owners, captains and fishermen in the area about the basic content of the Prime Minister's telegram; Resolution of the Council of Judges of the Supreme People's Court on guiding the application of a number of provisions of the Penal Code on criminal prosecution for acts related to illegal exploitation, trading and transportation of aquatic products and related legal provisions on combating IUU fishing. Organize ship owners to sign a commitment not to violate IUU when exploiting seafood at sea.

On this occasion, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 presented 10 gifts (each worth 1 million VND) to 10 fishing households in difficult circumstances; presented the national flag; photos of Uncle Ho; medical bags to vehicle owners and captains in the area. The unit also distributed hundreds of leaflets and propaganda notebooks.
Speaking at the conference, Colonel Nguyen Thai Duong, Deputy Political Commissar of the Command of Coast Guard Region 4, emphasized: Combating IUU fishing is an important task, requiring the cooperation of the government, functional forces and all fishermen. With the determination of the entire political system and the support of fishermen, we believe that Phu Quoc Special Zone will continue to be a leading locality in the fight against IUU fishing, contributing significantly to the efforts to remove the "Y yellow card" for the Vietnamese seafood industry in An Giang province.
