On August 11, Team K92, An Giang Provincial Military Command said that after 2 days of searching, the unit exhumed 3 sets of martyrs' remains in the area near Vinh Tuy Martyrs' Cemetery, An Giang province. Through information from local authorities, veterans and people, this is identified as a mass grave area, expected to have about 7 to 10 sets of martyrs' remains sacrificed around 1970.
The search area previously belonged to Go Quao district, former Kien Giang province, now Vinh Tuy commune, An Giang province. According to information provided by local authorities, veterans and people living for many years in the area, during the anti-American resistance war, around 1970, some officers and soldiers who died were buried collectively in the area near the commune's cemetery.
From the above sources, Team K92, An Giang Provincial Military Command coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to conduct surveys, verification, zoning and organize excavations. Through the search process, the task force discovered signs of a mass grave and initially exhumed 3 sets of martyrs' remains.

According to collected information, there may be 7 to 10 sets of martyrs' remains in this mass grave. Because the burial time has been more than half a century, and terrain and soil conditions have changed a lot, the search and exhumation work is carried out by Team K92 carefully and meticulously, ensuring that sets of remains, artifacts and valuable traces are not missed to serve the verification of martyrs' identities.
For the 3 remains that have just been exhumed, functional forces will collect and preserve the remains, artifacts and related information according to the correct procedures. At the same time, biological samples from the remains will be taken to serve DNA testing, creating a basis for comparison with DNA samples of martyr's relatives, contributing to identifying the identity, hometown and bringing the martyrs back to their families when they meet the conditions for identification.
Currently, the identities, units and specific circumstances of the martyrs' sacrifice have not been determined. Team K92 is continuing to expand the scope of excavation at the mass grave and surrounding areas, striving to find all remaining remains according to the source; and at the same time continue to meet with veterans, witnesses and people to supplement information to serve the verification work.
