As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, from March 2025 to present, unusual subsidence points have appeared in Kim Lu commune (Na Ri, Bac Kan).
This prolonged situation has made people feel insecure and worried, especially after the incident where a motorcyclist fell into a deep hole on National Highway 3B on the evening of May 26.
According to information from the People's Committee of Kim Lu commune, up to now, the whole commune has recorded a total of 9 subsidence locations, of which 6 holes have been formed, the remaining 3 areas have signs of subsidence.
Of which, the landslide on National Highway 3B is about 7m long and 5m deep, located in the middle of the median strip. However, the hole gradually enlarged, 8.6m long, 8.5m wide, and 8m deep on average. At the bottom of the sinkhole, there is an underground water mach and a 5.3m deep frog's jaw.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in early June 2025, ropes were stretched at this subsidence location and warning signs were placed, limiting people's access.

Inside, the area under the holes with a deep, earthen structure was dug up, forming a large hole, and groundwater continuously rose again.
The road surface around the area has subsidence, cracked rocks and soil, many houses near the scene have also begun to show signs of cracks and cracked walls.
There are houses located near the subsidence point, Ms. Loc Thi Mai, Hiep Luc village said: "For several months, the land in front of the house, hammock down, a part of the fence collapsed, the night sleeping and sleeping. I don't know when it drops.

Faced with the reality of the subsidence showing signs of spreading, the Na Ri district government has coordinated with specialized units to organize surveys and assess the geological status in the affected area.
According to the Institute of Geological Sciences and Mineral Resources, the area where the sinkholes appeared had a special geological foundation, mainly limestone that had been strongly transferred, combined with the existence of a strong underground water flowing below.
The silent erosion process over a long period of time is one of the causes of subsidence.
Regarding the handling plan, due to complex terrain and signs of hollow pits from within, reinforcement needs to be carefully considered.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Truong Quang Trong - Chairman of Kim Lu Commune People's Committee said that before that, the locality had dumped nearly 200m3 of boulders into the pit to fill it, but the entire rock block disappeared overnight, leaving no trace.
According to the commune leader, during the drainage process, a large rock nearly the size of a car was suddenly swept away to the bottom of the hole and went missing.
The phenomenon of unusually rising underground water and the discovery of fish in the hole has raised questions about the possibility of underground water or connectivity with neighboring lakes.
This is a factor that specialized agencies need to carefully survey before providing solutions to limit the risk of further subsidence in the future.
Currently, the authorities are still conducting geological assessments, thereby having plans to reinforce the foundation, fill the holes with appropriate materials and handle groundwater if it is determined to have underground connection.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 9:34 p.m. on May 26, at the subsidence point on National Highway 3B, a motorbike driver hoped to lower the barrier and fell into a hole.
As soon as the information was received, the rescue team arrived at the scene, mobilizing specialized equipment to search.
However, due to the complex geology of the death hole and the continuous landslides, the whereabouts of the victim have not yet been determined.
