On June 6, Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People's Committee (An Giang) just announced the search for biological parents for abandoned newborns.
According to the minutes of Phu Quoc Special Zone Police, at about 8 am on June 5, 2026, the Special Zone Police received a report from Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen Vy (born in 2008) about discovering a newborn baby abandoned at the foot of Thanh Nien bridge in Group 2, Bung Goi Cua Duong neighborhood.
The abandoned newborn baby is a baby girl weighing 2.7kg, about 5-7 days old, with normal health status. When discovered, the baby was unclothed, wrapped around with a blue scarf; in addition, nothing else was found to prove the identity of the newborn baby.
Currently, the baby girl is being cared for at the Department of Pediatrics of Phu Quoc Medical Center. Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee announced that anyone who is the child's biological father or mother should come to Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee to carry out procedures to reclaim the child.
Within 7 working days, from June 8, 2026 to the end of June 16, 2026, if no one comes to pick up the baby, Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee will proceed to make a birth certificate for the baby and carry out procedures for adoption, when someone adopts the baby.
Previously, at about 8 am on May 21, 2026, Phu Quoc Special Zone Police (Nam Dao cluster) received a report from people discovering a newborn baby abandoned at Duc Me Cave, group 6, An Thoi neighborhood 3, Phu Quoc special zone, An Giang province.
The newborn baby was identified as a baby girl, weighing 3 kg, not wearing clothes, not having her umbilical cord cut, and nothing else was found to prove the identity of the newborn baby.
