HCMC - The new Mien Dong Bus Station (Thu Duc City) - the largest and most modern in the country, will increase ticket prices by 40% on routes from Da Nang on April 29 and 30.

On March 22, Mr. Nguyen Lam Hai - Deputy Director of the new Eastern Bus Station (Thu Duc City) said that it is expected that from April 29 to May 4, the number of passengers passing through the station will reach about 47,400 people, an increase of 10% over the same period last year.

In particular, on the peak day of April 30, it can welcome about 11,500 passengers.

Although encouraging bus companies not to increase prices, to compensate for the cost of turning around without passengers, the bus station allows transport units to adjust ticket prices with a maximum increase of 40% (on the two peak days of April 29 and 304) for routes from Da Nang to Binh Thuan, the Central Highlands, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and the Western provinces.

Meanwhile, routes from Hue to the North will still have ticket prices as usual.

At the old Mien Dong Bus Station (Binh Thanh District), although most of the routes have moved to the new bus station, the expected number of passengers is still higher than the new bus station due to its convenient location in the inner city.

According to Mr. Nguyen Phu Dat - Deputy Director of the old Eastern Bus Station, from April 29 to May 4, the number of passengers passing through the bus station can reach 62,250 trips. Ticket prices here have also been adjusted to increase by no more than 40% during the two peak days.

Meanwhile, Mien Tay Bus Station (Binh Tan District) is expected to welcome 271,600 visitors, an increase of more than 5% over the same period last year. On the peak day of April 30, it can reach 61,500 visitors, with about 2,120 trips from the station.

Routes to the Mekong Delta provinces also apply ticket price increases of no more than 40% on April 29 and 30.

In order to facilitate people's travel during the holidays, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said it will implement a series of measures such as increasing shuttle buses, adjusting the Metro No. 1 train schedule (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), and adding buses to serve travel needs.

In addition, to limit congestion at traffic hotspots, Ho Chi Minh City Police will coordinate with relevant units to control and divert vehicles at Tan Son Nhat Airport, bus stations and routes leading to the expressway such as Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay and Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong.
