On March 20, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai led a working group to survey the situation of lack of clean water for daily use in Thanh Tung Hamlet, Bien Bach Commune, Thoi Binh District.
According to the report of the People's Committee of Bien Bach commune, the whole commune has 642 households lacking and cannot proactively source domestic water. Of which, 283 households have degraded water supply works and do not have enough water; 30 households near water supply pipes have not yet accessed water from the works; 218 households live in a concentrated area but do not have water supply works; 111 residents live sparsely and scatteredly.
Mr. Mai Hong Cat (residing in Thanh Tung hamlet, Bien Bach commune) said that up to now, the family's domestic water source has been almost completely dependent on rainwater. In the dry season, the family has to buy water from boats transported elsewhere.

"People here have 10 houses missing 10, they have to save a little bit in daily life, and there is no irrigation water for growing crops. Here, drilling wells for water with alum and salinity cannot be used, but each time changing water costs 45,000 VND/m3, said Mr. Cat.
Mr. Le Thanh Van - Secretary and Head of Thanh Tung Hamlet, Bien Bach Commune - added that the hamlet has about 165/417 households living in a state of lack of domestic water. These are households that have not yet invested in water supply pipes.
"People have to change the water from 40,000 - 45,000 VND/m3, but in the canals, the boats cannot enter, so changing the water is very difficult. The people's hope is to soon have a clean water source for stable use," Mr. Van shared.
Speaking to households in areas lacking domestic water in Thanh Tung hamlet, the head of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee requested the province's functional units to study and find effective solutions to help people soon have water for daily use.
According to the Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, the South has been liberated for nearly 50 years and Bien Bach commune has also reached the new rural finish line, but there are still hundreds of households lacking domestic water in the dry season, which is unacceptable.
