On the afternoon of March 2nd, at the headquarters of Dien Hong Ward People's Committee (Ho Chi Minh City), Politburo Member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang and 4 candidates for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term, term 2026 - 2031, constituency No. 6, had a meeting with voters in Dien Hong, Hoa Hung and Vuon Lai wards before the election.
At the meeting, voter Phung The Vinh (Hoa Hung ward) raised the issue of the progress of Metro Line 2 project (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong section).
According to reflections, the project is being implemented slowly, in some places it is dug up and then filled down many times, affecting people's lives and activities. Voters proposed that the city strengthen supervision to ensure progress and quality of the project.
Representing candidates answering voters, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang frankly acknowledged that Metro Line 2 is slow due to many reasons.
However, Mr. Tran Luu Quang affirmed that Metro Line 2's progress will definitely be faster than Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien). "I promise everyone that" - Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary affirmed.
According to Mr. Tran Luu Quang, compared to before, the compensation mechanism for site clearance has been more open, and the compensation price is also more appropriate, which is favorable for project implementation.

Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary further explained that Metro Line 2 is a line that must build a set of technical standards for the entire urban railway system of Ho Chi Minh City, so the initial stage encountered many obstacles.
Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary said that by the end of the 2025 - 2030 term, the city aims to complete 3 key metro lines. These are Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong section), Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem section) and Thu Thiem - Long Thanh line.
This is identified as an important urban railway axis, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Long Thanh International Airport.
Currently, Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong section) is nearly 11.27 km long, with a total investment of more than 55,000 billion VND, started construction on January 15, 2026 and is expected to be completed in 2030.
For the Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem section of Metro Line No. 2, Ho Chi Minh City has assigned Truong Hai Group (Thaco) to prepare a feasibility study report in PPP form, BT contract. The line is 5.58 km long, including 6 underground stations, with a preliminary total investment of about 33,000 billion VND; expected to start construction before April 30, 2026 and be completed in 2030.
Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is considering assigning Thaco to study and deploy the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh route in the form of PPP (BT contract), with the goal of starting construction before June 30, 2026 and putting it into operation in 2030.
The Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line is about 42 km long, designed with a double track gauge of 1.435 mm, design speed of 120 km/h, including 20 stations (16 elevated stations, 4 underground stations), with a preliminary total investment of about 84,753 billion VND.
