On January 28, in the Lao Cai - Ha Khau International Border Gate area, the Border Guard force of Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and Hong Ha Border Management Sub-Department (China) organized a joint patrol launching ceremony in 2026, continuing to strengthen coordination to ensure security and order in the border area.
At the demarcation line of the Lao Cai - Ha Khau International Border Gate, the Lao Cai Provincial Border Guard Command coordinated with Hong Ha Border Management Sub-Department, Ha Khau Immigration Border Checkpoint to organize the Joint Patrol Launching Ceremony in 2026 and deploy joint patrols to enforce the law at the border.

In 2025, the two sides maintained the effectiveness of periodic and unscheduled joint patrols throughout the assigned border line; strengthened legal propaganda for border residents; promptly detected and handled violations related to entry and exit, smuggling and violations of border security.
During the year, the two forces organized 12 joint patrols with about 1,200 turns of officers and soldiers participating from each side; propagated the law to nearly 10,000 turns of border residents; coordinated to fight and handle violations, and seized smuggled gold and silver across the border.

The handover of citizens who violated the law between the two countries was carried out in accordance with regulations. The two sides also coordinated to successfully organize the "Red River 3 - 2025" exercise.
Promoting the achieved results, in 2026, the two sides agreed to continue to maintain orderly and effective joint patrols; strengthen surprise patrols during peak periods.

At the same time, promote information exchange, coordinate in combating cross-border crimes, contributing to building a border line of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
