According to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, in the Hai Tien coastal embankment area (Hoang Tien commune, Thanh Hoa province), a subsidence situation has appeared stretching more than 100m. To ensure safety for people and tourists, functional forces have stretched warning ropes to warn of dangerous areas.

The subsided embankment section belongs to the traffic road project from Phuc Ngu canal to Giang Son village, Hoang Tien commune. The project was approved by the People's Committee of Hoang Hoa district (old) in 2023, with a total investment of more than 220 billion VND, constructed by Tuan Linh Construction Investment Joint Stock Company.

The project is more than 2km long, including items: a 34m wide road, embankments and breakwaters, lighting system, green trees, stops, parking and auxiliary works. The project started in February 2024, completed and put into use from June 2025.

Many people in Giang Son village, Hoang Tien commune said that the subsidence situation has appeared for about 10 days and is becoming increasingly serious, with many deep holes and "frog mouths" that are potentially dangerous when traveling.
After the incident occurred, the People's Committee of Hoang Tien commune sent a report to the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, requesting to direct relevant departments and branches to inspect, evaluate and soon have a handling plan to ensure safety.

Also according to a representative of Hoang Tien Commune People's Committee, the project was put into use from June 2025 (warranty period of 15 months). After completion, the project was affected by many storms, especially storm No. 5 and No. 10 in 2025, leading to damage. Currently, subsidence and landslides are still continuing and there is a risk of spreading.
