During the July days of gratitude, the small house of veteran Nguyen Quy Dang in Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam ward (Hanoi City) became warmer with the presence of union members and youth in the area.
This is an activity "Reunion Meal" organized by the Youth Union of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam ward to celebrate the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026). The program aims to express gratitude to people with meritorious services to the revolution, and at the same time educate patriotism, foster the spirit of responsibility and gratitude of the young generation towards the generations of fathers and brothers who sacrificed for the Fatherland.
For Mr. Dang, what is precious is not only the reunion meal but also the care and sharing of union members and youth when visiting and chatting. Those sincere feelings bring joy and leave in him beautiful memories of gratitude July.
Although it is just a simple meal, it is extremely cozy and meaningful. The most precious thing is to meet, chat and share with the youth union members and young people. The house is small, the space is somewhat cramped, but I clearly feel the sincerity and affection that the children have for me. This will be a memory that I will never forget," Mr. Dang confided.
Mr. Dang also expressed his wish that the young generation will continue to promote the spirit of dedication, contributing to building an increasingly developed country, worthy of the sacrifices of previous generations for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
Ms. Le Thanh Thao - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Ward (Hanoi City) - said that implementing the direction of the Hanoi Youth Union and the Party Committee of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Ward, the Ward Youth Union organized the program "Reunion Meal" at the homes of veterans, wounded soldiers and people with meritorious services in the area. This is not only a friendly meal but also an opportunity for union members and youth to listen to stories about the heroic history of the nation.
According to Ms. Thao, besides the "Reunion Meal" program, the Ward Youth Union also organizes many gratitude activities such as offering incense and lighting candles at martyrs' cemeteries, visiting families of people with meritorious services, launching campaigns to clean up and renovate memorial steles in the area.
Through these activities, we want to educate union members and youth about patriotism, gratitude and responsibility of the young generation towards those who have contributed and sacrificed for the Fatherland," Ms. Thao shared.
Nguyen Duc Huy - Youth Union member of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam ward (Hanoi City) - shared: "Being able to visit the veteran and prepare a meal with everyone myself, I feel very touched and proud. The meal is simple but contains the feelings and gratitude of youth for previous generations of fathers and grandfathers.
Sharing the same feeling, Nguyen Phuong Anh - Youth Union member of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam ward (Hanoi City) - expressed: "The thing I was most impressed with was the moment everyone sang revolutionary songs together. I used to hear grandparents sing these songs, but today, when those melodies echo in the atmosphere of gratitude, the emotions are even deeper".
