After information about the photo and artifacts discovered at grave number 104, 3rd row, Tam Thai Martyrs' Cemetery, Chien Dan commune, Da Nang city was spread, a relative in Bac Ninh province contacted and provided important information, opening up hope for identifying the martyr's identity.
The person who recognized the photo was Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, born in 1954, from A Cau village, Nam Son commune, Bac Ninh province. Ms. Hanh said that the woman in the photo was herself when she was young. The photo was sent by her as a gift to her uncle, martyr Nguyen Van Hau, before he set off on duty.
From the information provided by Ms. Hanh, functional agencies conducted a review and comparison of the list of martyrs who sacrificed and were repatriated at Tam Thai Martyrs' Cemetery, formerly Tam Ky, Quang Nam province, now Chien Dan commune, Da Nang city.
Initial results show that there is martyr Nguyen Van Hau, born in 1930, native of Nam Son, Que Vo, Ha Bac; rank of Private First Class, position of soldier; sacrificed on May 14, 1969 in combat in the Khanh Thuong, Ky Nghia, Tam Ky, Quang Nam area. This information basically coincides with the content provided by relatives.

Previously, on August 20, while performing duties at Tam Thai Martyrs' Cemetery, functional forces discovered at grave number 104 a wallet with a woman's portrait, a metal board clearly stating the words "Rather sacrifice everything than become a slave", a bottle of oil and some other personal belongings.
Although it is not yet possible to compare and identify the identity by DNA testing, the fact that relatives recognize the person in the photo, along with the initial match between the information provided by the family and the martyr management records, is an important basis for further verification.

The Military Command (CHQS) of Da Nang city has directed relevant agencies and units to urgently review and compare all records; verify relative relationships, hometown, combat process, time and location of sacrifice; coordinate with localities where the martyr enlisted and families to collect more documents and witnesses. Based on the verification results, the City Military Command will coordinate to advise competent authorities to implement the next steps in accordance with regulations.
From a photo that has been stained with time, information about the martyr is gradually being connected. This is a hopeful signal in the journey to identify the martyr, return the name to the martyr and bring the martyr back to his family and homeland after nearly six decades of waiting.
