In recent days, many people passing through the Zoo and Botanical Gardens have been surprised to see a "giant" mural, recreating brilliant and emotional images during the 50th anniversary of the North-South day, along with a strip appearing on a large wall on Nguyen Huu Canh Street (Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). It is worth mentioning that just a few months ago, this wall was still shabby due to a series of paint and paintings, making many people passing by the area feel frustrated.
The appearance of a large mural has delighted many people. The work was painted by the group of artists of Mr. Le Tuan Minh Vien (head of the group of artists) since mid-June, part of the project "Beautiful Vietnam" on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2 and the traditional day of the People's Public Security.
Mr. Minh Vien said that the mural is up to 300m long, with a total area of nearly 2,000 m2. The painting is arranged in a timeline, starting with the scene of fighter jets taking off from Bien Hoa airport, followed by parade groups of many forces such as the army, police, female villas... creating a solemn and heroic atmosphere.
The work also recreates wartime memories with images of tanks and airplanes, and depicts peacetime life through the see-through flower flags, people eagerly welcoming each parade, parade passing by, and fireworks at Bach Dang Wharf.
The project has about 20 artists participating in the implementation, divided into shifts from morning to afternoon. Each case has 6-10 people, depending on progress and weather conditions. It is expected that by mid-August, the entire mural will be completed, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security (19.8).
According to the members of the artist group, the process of making this work requires careful research from historical documents to ensure accuracy in every detail such as military uniforms, weapons, and equipment. The parade blocks are shown in standard ratio, the layout is strictly calculated to create a regular movement rhythm, exuding the solemn spirit of the parade ceremony.
The project not only attracted attention for its scale and content bearing a strong historical imprint, but also received many positive responses from local people and tourists.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong (HCMC) shared: I find the painting very vivid and meaningful. Looking back at the familiar images of the April 30 holiday, I am very proud and moved.
With serious investment in content and form, the project not only contributes to beautifying urban space but also becomes a cultural highlight, a place connecting historical memories with current life, arousing pride in the journey of building and defending the Fatherland.
