On July 4, Coc San Commune Police, Lao Cai province issued a warning about the risk of landslides at Km124+600 National Highway 4D, passing through Chu Cang Ho village.
According to initial information, at about 9 am on the same day, mud, rocks and tree branches from the positive taluy suddenly spilled onto the road surface over a length of about 30 m. In some locations, the mud layer was about 0.5 m thick.
Mud and soil also buried about 100 m of longitudinal ditches, hindering drainage and posing a potential risk of traffic unsafety.
At the time of the incident, there was no rain in the area. Through inspection, functional forces determined that there was heavy rain above the mountainside before. The irrigation ditch was subsided, the water pipeline was broken, causing the water to carry mud and rocks and spill onto National Highway 4D.
Immediately after receiving the news, Road Traffic Police Team No. 1, Traffic Police Department of Lao Cai Provincial Police coordinated with the road management unit, Coc San Commune Police and local people to organize traffic diversion, mobilize vehicles and personnel to clear mud and soil, ensuring safe traffic.


By noon on July 4, the landslide point was basically overcome, and vehicles have returned to normal traffic.
Functional agencies recommend that people when traveling on National Highway 4D, especially through steep passes and high slopes, need to reduce speed, pay attention to observation and comply with the instructions of traffic control forces to ensure safety.
