The prolonged heavy rain since mid-November has caused a series of landslides on the only road through Sa Tram village (Dakrong commune, Quang Tri province).
mud covered the road, many large rocks were lying across, some sections of the forest trees fell down and blocked the path, making it difficult for people to travel and affecting border patrols.

As soon as the rain stopped, Ba Nang Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Border Guard) mobilized forces to coordinate with the people to help overcome the situation.
Since the morning of November 18, officers and soldiers have been present at the landslide locations on the road. At this time, the young mud layer is still mushy and sticking tightly on the road surface, so the authorities and people use hoes and shovels to remove mud, creating a safe road surface.

The most difficult step was moving the large rocks that were blocking the road. Due to the inability to use motor vehicles, border guards and people had to work together to roll each rock to the side, clearing the roadway to ensure traffic.

Mr. Ho Van Chien - Deputy of Ra Lay village, Dakrong commune said that after heavy rain, the roads were cut off at many points, making it very difficult for people in the villages to travel.
"Without the support of the border guards, people would have a hard time moving. The people are very grateful for their timely help, said Mr. Chien.

Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van Hung - Head of Ba Nang Border Guard Station informed that on November 18, the unit mobilized 20 officers, soldiers and people from the villages to overcome the entire landslide site and cleared the route from Km7 of Ho Chi Minh Road to Ba Nang Border Guard Station.

Currently, there is still 1 flooded point in Ly Ton spillway (Ly Ton village, Dakrong commune) with a water level of about half a meter. Ba Nang Border Guard Station has assigned forces to coordinate with units to place warning signs at locations at risk of landslides, and at the same time be on duty at sections at risk of deep flooding to guide people and ensure safety when traveling.
