As a household living along Provincial Road 172, on a flat plot of land, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Tinh (in Ben village, Viet Hong commune) is still devastated when remembering the terrible flash flood on the afternoon of September 29.

Ms. Tinh said that at 4:00 p.m. on September 29, there was continuous heavy rain, the stream in front of her house rose high and flowed rapidly. Every time the water level rises, the water flows more and more strongly.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nhan (residing in Phu Lan village, Tran Yen commune) said that more than 4 sao of his family's fields were deeply submerged in water. Although the rice does not ripen for another 10 days, we have to take advantage of the sunny weather to go to the fields to harvest.

"The rice has been soaked in floodwater for many days, people cannot eat it. Just pick them up and beat them to the chickens. I don't know what people will get from now until Tet to live on," Mr. Nhan said sadly.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Chien - Chairman of the People's Committee of Viet Hong commune said that the circulation of storm No. 10 caused heavy damage to people and property in the area.

Currently, many households are "empty-handed" because their fields and gardens are buried, their rice in their homes is gone, and their livelihoods such as buffaloes, cows, pigs, ducks, and chickens are also swept away by the water.

"The local government is calling for support from the community to help people overcome difficulties soon, especially the source of trees, seeds and rice so that people can maintain their livelihoods and stabilize their lives," Mr. Chien shared.
