Many roads are still covered in mud
The impact of storm No. 10 caused serious flooding in many areas in Yen Bai ward.
The whole ward has more than 7,700 households affected by flooding and isolation; 11 schools, 1 health station, 7 cultural houses, some agencies and pagodas were flooded; 24 roads were flooded with mud, damaged drainage systems, estimated damage of about 150 billion VND.

After a week of flooding, some roads and alleys in the ward are still covered in mud.
Storm No. 11 continues to cause heavy rain, mud in the house accumulates, making cleaning and sanitation difficult.

Mr. Nguyen Nghiem Dung (on Thanh Nien Street, Hong Thanh Residential Group, Yen Bai Ward) confided: "Everywhere you look, it is dirt and mud, people have been cleaning up all week but it is only temporary. I just hope the weather will not rain or flood anymore so that people can live in peace".
Mr. Nguyen Tien Si, Deputy Director of Tien Dat Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company, said that after the water receded, the company mobilized 12 cars and excavators and human resources to clear the mud, ensuring traffic and daily life for the people.

Many families "nothing left" after floods
Some localities in Lao Cai province also suffered heavy damage due to landslides and flash floods. Many villages were devastated, disrepaired, and many families were left empty-handed after the storm.

As a household living along Provincial Road 172, on a flat plot of land, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Tinh (in Ben village, Viet Hong commune) is still devastated when remembering the terrible flash flood on the afternoon of September 29.
Ms. Tinh said that at 4:00 p.m. on September 29, there was continuous heavy rain, the stream in front of her house rose high and flowed rapidly. Every time the water level rises, the water flows more and more strongly.

"The villagers and children could only run to Mrs. Thanh's house (3 floors) to take shelter. A moment later, the water rose to the road, then flooded the entire level 4 house, sweeping away all the belongings," Ms. Tinh recalled.
Now that the flood has passed, there is nothing left in the house, the fields and gardens are buried, the food stored in the house is swept away by the water...

In Tran Yen commune, people have recently taken the opportunity to strip leaves and pick mulberry stems to save flooded mulberry fields.
Many households take advantage of harvesting young rice to pick the "happy rice".

Mr. Nguyen Van Nhan (residing in Phu Lan village, Tran Yen commune) said that more than 4 sao of his family's fields were deeply submerged in water. Although the rice does not ripen for another 10 days, we have to take advantage of the sunny weather to go to the fields to harvest.
"The rice has been soaked in floodwater for many days, people cannot eat it. Just pick them up and beat them to the chickens. I don't know what people will get from now until Tet to live on," Mr. Nhan said sadly.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Chien - Chairman of the People's Committee of Viet Hong commune said that the circulation of storm No. 10 caused heavy damage to people and property in the area.
Currently, many households are "empty-handed" because their fields and gardens are buried, their rice in their homes is gone, and their livelihoods such as buffaloes, cows, pigs, ducks, and chickens are also swept away by the water.
"The local government is calling for support from the community to help people overcome difficulties soon, especially the source of trees, seeds and rice so that people can maintain their livelihoods and stabilize their lives," Mr. Chien shared.
