In the last days of April, in the Cam Duong ward area, the construction atmosphere was urgent. Excavators, trucks, and workers worked continuously, divided into shifts to speed up the project to handle landslides and stabilize the taluy behind Lao Cai Provincial Political School.
According to records, most of the main items have gradually taken shape. Solid concrete embankments clinging along the taluy base, forming a solid "shield" protecting the residential area below.

Previously, in the years 2024-2025, this area was repeatedly affected by heavy rain, soil and rocks from the taluy were at risk of overflowing, causing people to always be worried.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien (resident in Cam Duong ward) shared: "This area is affected by landslides, so many households have to move to other places. Now seeing this solid embankment construction, households are also much more reassured.

The project has a total investment of about 95 billion VND from the provincial budget in the period 2025-2026, with the goal of thoroughly handling landslides, reinforcing taluy slopes, and ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.
This is considered an urgent project in the context of weather changes causing increasingly extreme heavy rain.
However, the construction process is inevitably difficult. Mr. Vu Van Doan - Deputy Director of Minh Tuan Co., Ltd., the construction unit - said that the project was once affected by ground conditions and fluctuations in fuel and construction material prices.
Despite facing many obstacles, we still focus maximum machinery and manpower, and organize continuous construction. The goal is to complete the project before July 30 to promptly protect people during this year's rainy and flood season," Mr. Doan said.

From a management perspective, Mr. Cu Minh Quan - Deputy Head of Project Management Department 1, Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board - said that the investor is closely coordinating with the contractor to control progress and quality.
Up to this point, the main items have been basically completed, ensuring initial safety for the residential area. We regularly inspect the site, requesting construction units to strictly comply with technical procedures and labor safety," Mr. Quan informed.

To compensate for the time interrupted by the weather, units are working overtime, increasing shifts, taking advantage of sunny days to speed up progress. Construction organization is also carefully calculated to minimize risks, especially in the context of the approaching rainy season.
When the embankment line is completed, it will not only help stabilize the taluy slope, but the project will also contribute to embellishing the area, creating a long-term safety foundation for people living below.
