Many projects are still slow in disbursement
Ca Mau province is focusing on reviewing the progress of key projects and works; and at the same time directing the removal of difficulties and accelerating the disbursement of public investment capital to ensure the 2026 plan.
According to the Ca Mau Provincial Department of Finance, the total public investment capital plan for 2026 after adjustment, including capital transferred from 2025, is more than 7,255 billion VND. As of May 11, 2026, the whole province disbursed more than 1,634 billion VND, reaching 22.5% of the plan; higher than the national average and the same period last year.

To date, nearly 630 billion VND has been disbursed from projects, reaching 25.3% of the capital plan.

Despite achieving positive results compared to the same period, the current disbursement progress has not yet met the requirements of local economic growth.
Some large-scale projects are behind schedule such as: Belt Road outside Bac Lieu City phase 1; Belt Road inside Bac Lieu City phase 1; Hoa Binh 2 bridge and the road connecting to Giong Nhan - Go Cat road; West sea dike construction project from Cai Doi Vam to Kenh Nam; coastal erosion prevention embankment from Ong Doc river mouth to Bay Hap estuary...
According to investors, delays directly affect the disbursement capacity of public investment capital as well as the progress of infrastructure completion to serve socio-economic development.
Establishment of Steering Committee to remove difficulties
Mr. Huynh Cong Quan - Director of Ca Mau Provincial Department of Finance - said that most of the projects under construction are facing difficulties due to increased material prices in the past time. Some construction contractors are holding back to wait for price adjustments according to the mechanism of competent authorities.
According to Mr. Quan, this situation has significantly affected the construction progress and disbursement of public investment capital.
From a local perspective, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung - Secretary of the Party Committee of Ganh Hao commune - said that the Ganh Hao embankment project is currently facing land issues for 17 households. The process of inventorying and appraising asset structure has generated many contents that need to be adjusted, so the compensation plan has changed many times.

Not only the Ganh Hao embankment project, many other projects in the province also face difficulties in site clearance, determining compensation prices and resettlement.
Faced with the situation of many backlog and prolonged projects, the Standing Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee has established a Steering Committee to remove difficulties and obstacles for backlog projects in the province, headed by the Provincial Party Secretary.
Along with that, the Inspectorate of Ca Mau province announced Decision No. 235/QD-TT dated April 29, 2026 on specialized inspection of projects with long-standing difficulties and obstacles in the area.
