The project to reorganize commune-level administrative units in Tuyen Quang will be reduced from 137 to 46 communes and 5 wards, a reduction of 62.7%. The names of the new communes are expected to be selected from the names of the districts or names associated with historical relics.
Instead of dry, digital names, Tuyen Quang has decided to focus on names rich in historical and cultural significance. This has received a lot of support from local people.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Thanh - Former Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang said that Tuyen Quang is a land of the land of the lost, which used to be the Capital of the Liberation Zone, the Capital of Resistance.
Names such as Tan Trao, Kim Binh, Son Duong, Chiem Hoa, Na Hang... have been deeply imprinted in history books and people's minds all over the country. These are not simply village and commune names, but also historical keywords.
When rearranging administrative boundaries, it is necessary to organize surveys and carefully assess the cultural and historical values of the locations. Places that have been associated with revolutionary traditions, historical relics, and folk festivals need to be prioritized for preservation.
The new administrative unit can be renamed, but still retain traditional names at the village, hamlet, and neighborhood levels, or name public works, so as not to disrupt cultural networks.
Keeping the names of villages and communes associated with historical and cultural sites is to preserve the memories of the nation, educate future generations about their roots and patriotism.

According to Mr. Vi Van Than - Former Head of the Propaganda Department of Na Hang district, any local plan with the longest history, culture and tradition is appropriate to use the name of that commune as a name.
The name is not simply an administrative symbol establishing management boundaries, but also a symbol of memory, the soul of each land.
According to Mr. Than, whether the name of the new administrative unit can have traditional and historical values or simply be a digital number, the most important thing is that the selection process is still carried out publicly and transparently.
People are allowed to participate in deciding on the name of the land they live in, feel a part of the new history, thereby forming solidarity, responsibility and pride.
