Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture has just been issued, in which it is agreed to choose November 24th every year as "Vietnam Cultural Day", with the policy of being a holiday, workers are entitled to full salary, so that people can improve their ability to enjoy culture, the team of artists and writers are encouraged to be creative, and the whole society promotes and practices a cultural and civilized lifestyle.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper on the afternoon of January 13, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that immediately after receiving Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW through the press, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor informed, shared and collected feedback from union members and workers. With more than 85,000 people consulted, more than 95% expressed great joy and highly agreed with the content of the Resolution unanimously choosing November 24th every year as "Vietnamese Cultural Day", this day workers are entitled to leave and receive full salary. The rest, workers also expressed their agreement with this new holiday.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said that there are no specific plans yet, but surely the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will consider this an opportunity to organize activities to improve the spiritual and cultural life for union members and workers - subjects who are lacking many conditions to enjoy spiritual and cultural values, including time. This is a very good opportunity to organize cultural and sports playgrounds, bring workers to historical and cultural relics in the area or spend time with family members to share and honor Vietnamese family cultural values.
Currently, based on Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees are entitled to work leave and full pay during the following holidays and Tet:
- New Year's Day: 1 day (January 1st lunar calendar).
- Lunar New Year: 5 days.
- Victory Day: 1 day (April 30th solar calendar).
- International Labor Day: 1 day (May 1st solar calendar).
2 days (September 2nd solar calendar and 1 consecutive day before or after).
- Hung Kings Memorial Day: 1 day (March 10th of the lunar calendar).
