On December 23, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province decided to approve the design task of the architectural plan for Long Hung bridge (Dong Nai 2 bridge) and Cat Lai bridge.
The People's Committee of Dong Nai province requires the Cat Lai bridge project to ensure synchronization and effective connection between main routes such as: Ring Road 2, Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, Provincial Road 25C and other key traffic axes. Forming a direct connection route from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai province; connecting the central urban area and Long Thanh airport. Create an inter-regional traffic route between Ho Chi Minh City - Dong Nai and the Southeast provinces, contributing to promoting the potential and advantages of the region.
The Cat Lai bridge project completely replaces the Cat Lai ferry, ensuring safe traffic on roads and waterways. Reducing the load on key routes such as: Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, inter- port roads; improving access to Cat Lai Port area; Shorten travel time, reduce traffic congestion, especially during peak holidays and Tet; Strengthen road and waterway traffic safety after stopping ferry operations.
In addition, Cat Lai Bridge also has a positive impact on attracting investment, developing the economy - culture - society of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, as well as the provinces in the region; Contributing to the effective exploitation of land funds, promoting urban development in Dai Phuoc commune and surrounding areas.
According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, building Cat Lai bridge will become a landscape symbol at the gateway to Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province, contributing to promoting tourism, enhancing the urban image and creating identifying value for the entire area.
The total estimated research length of the project is about 3.7 km within the Cat Lai bridge area. The starting point is at Km1+500, located on Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, about 400 m from My Thuy intersection towards Cat Lai ferry. The end point is at Km5+200, connecting to the road leading to Cat Lai bridge on the Dong Nai side.
The width of the bridge and the approach road to Cat Lai bridge ensure the scale of 6 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles, designed speed of 80 km/h.
The Provincial People's Committee encourages creative - different - feasible ideas, ensuring uniqueness, not copying domestic or foreign bridge models; the contestants are responsible for the intellectual property rights of the project. Research on architectural - artistic lighting solutions to increase aesthetic value, identify and stimulate tourism development.
The architectural form needs to be different from the bridges in the Dong Nai - Ho Chi Minh City area as well as existing bridge works in Vietnam.

The Long Hung bridge project (Dong Nai 2 bridge) solves long-term traffic needs, shortens travel time between areas in the province and strengthens connectivity between Bien Hoa - Long Thanh - Long Hung and surrounding areas.
The total estimated research length of the project is about 3.5 km of Long Hung bridge (Dong Nai 2 bridge). The starting point is at Km2+530, located on the inter-regional road of Long Phuoc ward, about 2.5 km from Go Cong intersection towards Ho Chi Minh City; The end point is at Km6+340 connecting the 777B approach road on the An Phuoc commune side and Tam Phuoc ward, Dong Nai province.
