On May 23, information from Vietnam Railways Corporation said that the camera surveillance system at level crossings and passages through railways is operating 24/24 hours to record traffic conditions, promptly detect and handle violations.
According to Vietnam Railways Corporation, in the past time, through data from the camera system and people's feedback, functional forces have detected 181 violations. Of which, 119 cases have been handled, with a total fine of more than 617.5 million VND.
Common violations include: not complying with level crossing warning signals; overtaking barriers when signals are already operating; intentionally crossing railways when trains are about to arrive; stopping and parking vehicles within railway safety boundary; infringing on railway traffic safety corridors.
Vietnam Railways Corporation said that all violations can be recorded by the camera system, extracting data to serve verification and handling according to regulations.
Notably, many cases are still subjective and lack observation when crossing level crossings, posing a potential risk of particularly serious railway traffic accidents.
Functional agencies recommend that traffic participants absolutely comply with warning signals and comply with the instructions of functional forces when passing through the level crossing area.
The installation and operation of the camera system is not only aimed at handling violations but also contributes to raising people's awareness, preventing accidents, and ensuring railway traffic safety," said a representative of Vietnam Railways Corporation.
