The Traffic Police Department (Traffic Police, Ministry of Public Security) has recently piloted the installation of AI traffic surveillance cameras on Pham Van Bach Street (Cau Giay Ward, Hanoi).
The actual recording of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters at the intersection of Pham Van Bach - Lane 9 and Pham Van Bach - Hoang Quan Chi streets (Cau Giay ward, Hanoi) during the peak hours on the morning of September 25 showed that most drivers passing through here comply with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety.
However, there is still a small number of people violating traffic laws. In particular, the main violations were recorded as walking on the sidewalk, some cases did not comply with traffic lights (stop at red lights but crossed the road, ran red lights), going in the wrong direction.

Mr. Le Van Hung (32 years old, Cau Giay ward) said that since Decree 168 officially took effect, people's awareness of complying with the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety has improved, especially at intersections with surveillance cameras and handling fines.
On the positive side, there are still cases of motorbikes driving on the sidewalk, going in the wrong direction or deliberately running red lights, endangering both pedestrians and other vehicles.
"In fact, the penalty level according to Decree 168 is quite heavy, but it has not changed the awareness of some people. I recommend that the authorities strictly handle violations along with strengthening propaganda to raise people's awareness of compliance" - Mr. Le Van Hung said.

Information from the Traffic Police Department said that through extracting data from 2 AI cameras piloted in Hanoi's inner city (Pham Van Bach street), from 0:00 to 12:00 on September 24, a series of violations were automatically detected, including: 343 cases of motorcyclists not wearing helmets; 1,452 cases of not obeying traffic light signals - running red lights (1,339 motorbikes; 113 cars); 3 cases of motorbikes going in the wrong direction.

According to the Traffic Police Department, these cases will be compared with the vehicle registration database system to determine the vehicle owner. At the same time, it was also approved by the staff of the Traffic Command Center - Traffic Police Department before being transferred to Hanoi City Police to carry out procedures to handle violations.
The Traffic Police Department believes that through this, it can be seen that the awareness of law compliance of traffic participants in the capital is alarming and needs to be rectifyed more than ever. In the future, thousands of AI cameras will be installed not only in Hanoi but nationwide.
The Traffic Police Department is advising the Minister of Public Security to issue a circular to support funding for information providers who violate traffic safety order, to launch a movement for the whole people to jointly condemn violations, and build a cultural, civilized and safe traffic system.
