As one of the large-scale housing projects in the central area of Thai Nguyen province, the Bac Son - Song Hong Housing Area was once expected to contribute to urban beautification and expand development space.
However, after many years of implementation, the entire land plot of more than 16 hectares in Phan Dinh Phung ward (formerly Hoang Van Thu ward) is still in disarray.
On August 4, Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter noted that, in addition to a section of road that has been paved with asphalt and a drainage culvert, most of the remaining area is still empty.
Inside, no construction activities were recorded, in some places, the site was dug up unfinished, rocks and soil were piled up, and weeds were growing wildly.
During the rainy season, water from high-altitude areas overflows onto the road, causing mud, which can affect traffic and the environment in the area.
Some points in the project have become spontaneous dumping sites. Garbage has existed for a long time, is not collected, causing loss of aesthetics and potential pollution risks.
People have reported that the project has been sluggish for many years, causing many households with land in the planning area to have difficulty in dividing plots, transferring land or constructing.
Ms. Luu Thi Hien (Group 7) said that she once maintained a small wood workshop on the land that was under the project planning.
"When the project is delayed for a long time, many partners are concerned that after signing the contract, the workshop will be relocated because it is located on the project planning land and they will not be able to find another supplier in time, so the number of partners will gradually decrease. If we did not last until 2017, we had to stop," Ms. Hien shared.
The Bac Son - Song Hong Housing Project is invested by Song Hong Construction Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company, with a total capital of more than 500 billion VND.
The project was implemented since the end of 2011, and was oriented as a model urban area in the center of Thai Nguyen City (old) with a synchronous and modern planning.
However, after nearly 14 years, the project is still in disarray, most of the area has not yet fully completed infrastructure.
Previously, Mr. Nguyen Tien Tru - Director of the Land Fund Development Center of Thai Nguyen City (now Phan Dinh Phung Ward) said that the project had expired since the first quarter of 2023.
One of the reasons why the project could not be implemented at that time was due to problems with legal procedures.
This project is behind schedule and has to extend the project implementation time by 3 times and is continuing to request a fourth extension, while there are still many areas that have not been cleared.
After many years, the dream of a model housing area in the central ward of Thai Nguyen has not been completed. Meanwhile, people living next to the project continue to wait in anxiety.
