The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has just updated the booking rate and ticket prices for tourist routes during the National Day holiday September 2nd.
Many stages still have space
According to the CAAV, data from Vietnamese airlines shows that the supply volume on key tourist routes during the National Day holiday of September 2nd is increasing compared to the same period. However, there is a significant difference in booking rates between routes.
On some routes, the booking rate on peak days has exceeded 55%. Among them, the Hanoi - Da Nang route had the highest booking rate on August 29, reaching 55%; Hanoi - Phu Quoc reached 69%.
Some routes recorded very high booking rates such as Ho Chi Minh City - Tuy Hoa reaching 99%, Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao reaching 98% and Hanoi - Chu Lai reaching 100%.
Conversely, some short routes still have quite a lot of empty seats. On August 29, the highest booking rate on the Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route only reached 48%, while Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang reached about 42%.
For the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, the current average booking rate is below 39%. Because this is an air route with high operating frequency, the remaining seats are quite abundant. In addition, the demand for air travel on this route is often decided and booked by passengers close to the departure date, especially when travel demand has decreased compared to the summer peak.
According to forecasts, the number of bookings on key tourist routes will continue to increase rapidly in the days leading up to the holidays. Airlines still have room to stimulate demand through promotions, optimize ticket prices and adjust supply loads according to market developments.
The reopening of Lien Khuong International Airport from August 19, 2026 also helps passengers have more choices of transportation during the holidays.
Ticket prices show signs of "cooling down
According to the CAAV, besides the increased supply of seats, airfares for this year's National Day holiday also show signs of "cooling down" compared to previous years. Although still higher than usual, the price level is assessed as more suitable and stable, helping passengers easily balance costs and choose flight times.
Surveys on online air ticket sales sites show that the Hanoi - Phu Quoc route, Vietjet is priced at about 1.9 - 2.6 million VND/haul and there are many flights at different time slots. Vietnam Airlines is priced at about 2.6 - 4.5 million VND/haul, while Sun Phu Quoc Airways listed from about 2.5 million VND/haul.
On the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route, Vietnam Airlines' popular ticket price is about 1.7 - 2.8 million VND/trip, depending on departure time. Vietjet has a price of about 1.6 - 2.3 million VND/trip.
For the Hanoi - Da Nang route, fares between airlines do not differ much. Vietnam Airlines lists about 2.3 - 2.5 million VND/trip; Vietjet about 2.1 - 2.2 million VND/trip, while Sun Phu Quoc Airways has prices from more than 2 million VND/trip.
On the Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang route on the first day of the holiday, the ticket price is about 1.5 million VND/trip. Sun Phu Quoc Airways is priced at over 2.2 million VND, while Vietjet is from about 1.6 million VND/trip. The Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh, Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa routes are priced at about 1.6 - 2.2 million VND/trip.
On the Hanoi - Nha Trang route, Vietnam Airlines opens ticket sales from over 2.5 million VND/trip, Vietjet nearly 2 million VND, while Sun Phu Quoc Airways has prices from 2.2 - 2.3 million VND/trip.
According to the CAAV, compared to the same period in 2025, fares on some routes have decreased. Increased supply capacity helps the market have more price levels and time slots for passengers to choose from. Low prices are often concentrated on early morning, late night flights or flights with delayed departure times compared to peak periods.
