Near Tet, workers rush to work on highway construction site

Component project 3 (part of Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway) invested by Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee includes 3 construction packages.

In which, package No. 1 (Km69+500 to Km86) signed a contract with Son Hai Group Company Limited. Package No. 2 (Km86-Km101+500) signed a contract with Tan Nam Construction Joint Stock Company.

Package No. 3 (Km101+500-Km117+593) signed a contract with a consortium of Construction Corporation No. 1 and Trung Nam Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company.

At the end of the year, instead of returning home to celebrate Lunar New Year with their relatives, many workers still stay at the construction site to work.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Hien (worker at Trung Nam Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company) shared: "This year, I decided not to return home for Tet and stay at the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway construction site to work. Not only me, many other brothers also did not return home to reunite with their families. They decided to stay to complete the assigned tasks."

According to Mr. Hien, the workers who stay on are treated quite well by the contractor. In addition to the increased salary and bonus, the managing unit also buys additional necessities for Tet to encourage the workers' spirit.

Working in the same group as Nguyen Tan Hien, Trieu Van Ngan also decided to celebrate Tet at the highway construction site. Ngan had planned it 2 months ago. He sent money to his wife and children, encouraged them, and told them he would celebrate Tet away from home.

Mr. Ngan confided: "I work hard all year at the construction site and at the end of the year, I just hope to reunite with my wife and children. However, due to the large amount of work, I have to temporarily put aside my Tet holiday entertainment to focus on work.

"Fortunately, the workers help and support each other, so celebrating Tet away from home is warmer and less homesick," said Mr. Ngan.

Mr. Le Thanh Dat - Deputy Head of Traffic Project Management Department (under the Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects and Rural Development of Dak Lak province) shared: "In 2024, the disbursement rate of public investment capital on the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway (section through Dak Lak province) will reach 100%.

This is a great effort of the investor, construction contractor, workers and local authorities."

According to Mr. Dat, although it is the Lunar New Year holiday, many construction contractors still require workers to work and ensure the set progress. The Board has asked contractors to ensure salary and bonus policies and pay more attention to workers' lives.

"With the climate characteristics of Dak Lak province, we are forced to work overtime and take advantage of the dry season months to complete the main items before the rainy season. When the rainy season months come, we will proactively handle the remaining work to complete the project on schedule," Mr. Dat added.
