On April 20, the Nghe An Department of Health said that it had issued a document requesting urgent handling of a suspected food poisoning case that occurred in Dien Chau commune, after the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) requested an investigation.
According to the Department of Health, to promptly provide emergency care, treatment and control the situation, the People's Committees of Dien Chau, An Chau, Hai Chau, Duc Chau, and Tan Chau communes are requested to promote propaganda and notify people who have bought and used hamburgers on April 16-17 at Son Quynh bread stall (Trung Hong hamlet and block 4, Dien Chau commune) to monitor their health.
People are advised to go to the nearest medical facility if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever appear.
At the same time, localities must establish inspection teams to supervise food safety; strengthen surprise inspections of street food businesses, especially bread stalls. Violating establishments will be strictly and publicly handled to warn the community, and even suspend operations if there is a high risk.
For Dien Chau General Hospital, the Department of Health requests to organize the reception, emergency care, treatment, and close monitoring of patients; prepare human resources, medicines, supplies, hospital beds and proactively consult and transfer when necessary. At the same time, coordinate to provide records and take specimens to serve the investigation of causes.
Nghe An Friendship General Hospital is required to be ready to provide professional support, especially resuscitation work, and receive severe cases from lower levels.
Dien Chau Medical Center has the task of reviewing cases that have used banh mi at Son Quynh restaurant, closely monitoring new cases in the community and coordinating to investigate the cause.
Other medical examination and treatment facilities are also required to be ready to receive and treat suspected poisoning patients and transfer them to other levels in a timely manner when exceeding their professional capacity.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, from the morning of April 17 to the morning of April 18, Dien Chau General Hospital received 25 patients with symptoms of vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and some cases of high fever. Among them, 20 people said they had eaten bread at Son Quynh shop, and the remaining 5 cases used other foods, so the specific cause has not been determined.
