At 12:00 on August 16, during patrolling, checking and controlling the Southwest sea, CSB 6003, Squadron 401, Coast Guard Region 4 Command received a report of a fisherman having a work accident at sea.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, Captain of fishing boat KG-943xxTS (residing in Dong Hoa commune, An Giang province) informed about the fisherman Tran Van Dat (from My Hiep commune, Dong Thap province) having a work accident at sea, needing urgent medical support.
Immediately after receiving the information, CSB 6003 quickly approached and brought the fishermen to the boat and organized emergency first aid. Through inspection, the Military Medical Team determined that due to the strong storm, while working, crew member Dat was slashed by a fan of a dried squid dryer into his right hand, causing many serious injuries.
Mr. Dat was given a blood clotting, 7 stitches, fixed bananas, pain reliever and antibiotics. By 3:30 p.m. the same day, the fishermen's health was stable, they were alert, had less pain and were handed over to fishing boat KG-943xxTS to return to shore for further treatment.
