Expressway helps attract large enterprises, create on-site jobs
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Viet, Head of Khai Long Hamlet, Dat Mui Commune, said that in the past, traveling was very difficult, now there is a highway to get there, everyone is excited. When there are roads and ports, the province will develop industrial and service areas and clusters, attract large enterprises, and create on-site jobs so that young people do not have to go far. People mainly raise shrimp, go to the forest, go to sea, but with transport infrastructure, the locality will certainly develop as expected.
Mr. Nguyen Van Sa (68 years old, residing in Khai Long hamlet, Dat Mui commune) has about 6,800m2 of affected land, but he strongly agrees with the construction of the expressway to Dat Mui.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hon, owner of Hoang Hon tourism chain, Mui hamlet, Dat Mui commune, is calculating his business in tourism. He said that he will build tourist boats to take visitors to the sea to see people constructing bridges, roads, and Hon Khoai port:
I Guess everyone wants the expressway to be completed soon, wants to see with their own eyes the workers constructing Hon Khoai port. I can see the passengers from a distance.
Dat Mui people are honest, straightforward, and think simply, but they all share the same belief and expectation for this road.
According to Mr. Pham Viet Phong, Party Secretary of Khanh An Commune: "We do not work in a downward-throwing manner, but approach through dialogue. Whoever has any questions is clearly answered. People support, the government must do it immediately, clarify in compensation, site clearance to soon hand over the site for the project".
Key pillars for marine economic development
For Ca Mau province, this expressway is not simply a transport infrastructure project. That is the solution to the problem of "breakthrough" from disadvantageous geographical locations - which have long been considered remote, isolated, and low-lying areas for development.
The Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway is the final piece to complete the North - South Expressway axis in the East. More importantly, this is the backbone traffic route that helps Dat Mui connect with Hon Khoai seaport, which is expected to become a strategic logistics center. From there, key economic sectors such as aquaculture, tourism, renewable energy, logistics services, etc. will have the opportunity to strongly rebound.
Mr. Lam Van Bi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, commented: Along with the East - West axis routes, the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway will be a pillar for the development of the marine economy, exploiting the potential and strengths of Ca Mau province, ensuring solid national defense and security.
The Prime Minister has approved the addition of the Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway (CT.43) to the Vietnam Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
The project is about 90km long (the starting point is in the old Ca Mau city and the ending point is in the old Ngoc Hien district), with a scale of four lanes, and an investment process before 2030. The Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway has a total estimated investment of nearly 59,000 billion VND, constructed under an emergency mechanism, expected to be completed in 2028. The project was constructed by the 12th Corps (Ministry of National Defense).
Connecting with the expressway is the overpass from Dat Mui to Hon Khoai Port with an expected length of 17.55km, a scale of 4 lanes, a design speed of 80km/h with a total estimated investment of VND17,000 billion. At the same time, a two-way Hon Khoai General Port will be built in the South between Hon Khoai and Hon Sao islands with a total area of nearly 629 hectares, facilitating economic development associated with ensuring national defense and security at the maritime border.
