According to the Northern Expressway Project Management Board (Vietnam Expressway Development Investment Corporation), the project to expand the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway from 2 lanes to 4 lanes, Yen Bai - Lao Cai section was started on October 1, 2025, 121.33 km long (from Km 123+080 to Km 244+155), divided into two bidding packages XL1-NBLC and XL2-NBLC.
Up to now, the progress of the bidding packages basically meets the requirements, and many items have reached and exceeded the plan.

According to reporters' records, in recent days, construction has been continuously taking place at the construction site. On the entire route, most of the roadbed construction items have completed the treatment of reinforcement parts so that rollers and crushing machines can continue to complete the road surface.
Drainage items, box culverts, and retaining walls are deployed in a rolling manner, ensuring both construction and safe traffic maintenance on the route being exploited.

At some sections of the route, the contractor has constructed a layer of reinforced hot asphalt stone mixture, marking the project entering the completion phase.
Present at the construction site of the section from Km142 to Km152 and the construction of Ngoi Thia Bridge - on the left side of the route (package XL1-NBLC through Mau A commune) undertaken by Viet Hoa Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company, reporters recorded a lively construction atmosphere stretching for dozens of kilometers.

At the locations where the roadbed has been completely treated, the bed roller is operating continuously, next to it are worker groups urgently constructing concrete component casting to install for the drainage system... ensuring both construction and maintaining traffic safety.
Talking to Lao Dong, engineer Tran Ngoc Duong (Viet Hoa Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company) - Site Commander - said: "The roadbed is basically completed. The most important thing is the construction of the bridge item. This is the second longest bridge on the route, and it spans the Ngoi Thia stream with very strong flood flow.
Therefore, we are urgently constructing drilling and filling foundation pits, making platforms and bridge piers, striving to complete spans 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 before April 2026 when the flood season comes. Other items will be constructed later to ensure safety.

Currently, construction teams are working in 3 shifts, working continuously until the end of December.
After the Lunar New Year, the unit will focus on construction starting from January 6th of the lunar calendar (ie February 22nd of the solar calendar).
According to Mr. Tran Ngoc Duong, many workers, even though their houses are far away, are working in the days leading up to Tet, everyone is also very anxious and misses home.
We all understand that this is a project of particular importance, so everyone is very responsible, completing their work seriously and urgently, hoping to complete the project according to the set schedule," Mr. Duong shared.
