Joint venture of 3 contractors to construct 2 Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway intersections
On December 19, in Tam Duong commune, Phu Tho province, the groundbreaking ceremony for the project to build IC2 and IC5 intersections of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway through Vinh Phuc province (old) was held.
This project was approved under Decision No. 1213/QD-UBND dated June 13, 2025 of the previous Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee, the total investment of the project is more than 778 billion VND, with the Vinh Phuc Regional Project Management Board as the Investor.
According to the reporter's investigation, 1 day earlier (December 18), the Vinh Phuc Project Management Board issued Decision No. 586/QD-BKVVP, approving the results of the contractor selection for the project's "Construction + Equipment" package.
The above package is in the construction and installation sector, widely bidding online, the package price is more than 663.6 billion VND, estimated at more than 627.6 billion VND, the package implementation period is within 30 months.
According to the approval decision, the "IC2, IC5 Intersection Bidding Package Linkage" includes 3 contractors: Truong Son Construction Corporation, Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company No. 18 (Licogi 18), ELCOM Technology - Telecommunications Joint Stock Company won the bid with a price of nearly VND591 billion.
As for Truong Son Construction Corporation, it is the unit that has been constructing many large projects in Phu Tho in recent times. Typical projects are: Phong Chau Bridge (inaugurated), Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant expansion (inaugurated on December 19), Hoa Binh - Moc Chau Expressway (under construction)... All projects have met and exceeded the set schedule.
Phu Tho will have 10 Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway Intersections
For the project to build IC2 and IC5 intersections on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, contractors will construct a level I traffic project, with a design period of 20 years for the main project and 100 years for the bridge.
With the old IC2 Km8+340 intersection connecting the old Phuc Yen city area with the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, the package will build a different intersection level connecting to the expressway in the form of a loudspeaker, in which the main branch crosses the existing expressway with an overpass, the scale of the branch road is 1 lane with a direction of 8m, 2 lanes with a direction of 14.5m to meet the traffic forecast for the future.
With the IC5 Km31+340 intersection connecting the old National Highway 2 area of Tam Duong district with the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, the package will build another intersection connecting level with the expressway in the form of a loudspeaker, in which the main underpass branch under the existing expressway is under an underpass, the scale of the 1-lane branch road in the direction of 8m, 2 lanes in the direction of 14.5m will meet the traffic forecast for the future.
According to Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Quach Tat Liem, the groundbreaking of the project is of special significance, clearly demonstrating the political determination of the Party Committee, government and people of Phu Tho province in effectively implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, especially the breakthrough goal of developing transport infrastructure.
" Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway is an important strategic traffic axis of the country, connecting Hanoi with the Northern Midlands and Mountainous provinces. This is also an important international economic corridor, connecting the region with Lao Cai Border Gate, connecting with the Chinese market and the Northern seaport system. The route not only shortens travel time, reducing logistics costs but also opens up new development space" - Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee commented.
In the future, when the IC2 and IC5 intersections are completed, the system of 10 intersections according to the plan will be completed (IC2 to IC11), enhancing local traffic connection with the expressway, creating favorable conditions for the development of industrial parks, urban areas and concentrated production areas in the area.
This is one of the projects and works to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party.
