According to information from the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, as of 11:30 a.m. on September 9, 2024, the number of people dead and missing due to storm No. 3 and floods after the storm was 59.
Of which, 9 people were killed by storms; 44 people were killed by landslides and flash floods; and 6 people were swept away by floods. In Cao Bang, 21 people died or went missing due to landslides in Nguyen Binh district (1 person died, 20 people went missing). In Lao Cai, 15 people died or went missing due to landslides and flash floods.
Quang Ninh has 6 deaths (5 due to storm, 1 person swept away by flood). Hai Phong has 2 deaths due to storm. Hai Duong has 1 death due to storm. Hanoi has 1 death due to storm. Hoa Binh has 4 deaths due to landslide. There are 3 deaths due to landslide in Yen Bai.
Lang Son has 2 deaths (1 due to floods; 1 due to landslides). In Bac Giang, 1 person is missing due to floods. In Tuyen Quang, 2 people are missing due to floods. There is 1 person due to floods in Ha Giang.
Regarding the collapse of Phong Chau bridge in Phu Tho province, the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said that according to information from the Phu Tho Province Irrigation Department, provincial leaders and related departments are inspecting the scene. There are currently no specific statistics on human losses.
Phong Chau Bridge is a bridge across the Red River on National Highway 32C, located at Km 18+300 National Highway 32C, connecting Phung Nguyen commune, Lam Thao district with Van Xuan commune, Tam Nong district.
Phong Chau Bridge was built using old technology with a steel truss structure, 375.36m long. The project was inaugurated on July 28, 1995.
