The 176km Hai Phong - Mong Cai Expressway has no rest stops. To meet basic needs, passengers have to leave the expressway, causing inconvenience to their trips.
Based on this reality, Quang Ninh province has planned 3 rest stops at Thong Nhat commune, Ha Long city (6.56ha); Dai Xuyen commune, Van Don district (14.2ha); Quang Long commune, Hai Ha district (7.35ha).
Mr. Hoang Quang Hai - Director of Quang Ninh Department of Transport - said: "According to the plan, the rest stops will have full functions and amenities such as restaurants, gas stations, charging stations, OCOP product display areas, local agricultural products and restrooms. In particular, the stations at Dai Xuyen (Van Don), Thong Nhat (Ha Long) will have hotels to serve passengers' accommodation."
"Up to now, the rest stop planning has been approved. The Thong Nhat commune station (Ha Long) has selected an investor, the remaining two stations are in the process of bidding," said Mr. Hai.
In order of priority, in the first phase, essential items such as gas stations, electric charging stations, restrooms, and food services will be given priority to be completed first.
When the rest stops are completed, the Hai Phong - Mong Cai expressway will not only improve convenience but also contribute to the development of tourism and the regional economy.
