On June 7, Mr. Y Om Ênuôl, Secretary of the Party Cell of Buon Ky, Thanh Nhat ward, Dak Lak province, said that an ancient tree in the Buon Ky water wharf area suddenly fell on the afternoon of June 6, hitting a resident, causing the victim to be seriously injured.
According to initial information, the victim is Mr. H.V. B (residing in Thanh Nhat ward). At about 2 pm on June 6, while constructing in front of the house opposite Buon Ky water wharf, in alley 162 Nguyen Thi Dinh street, Mr. B was suddenly hit by a fallen ancient tree.
Immediately after the incident occurred, people quickly took the victim to the Central Highlands Regional General Hospital for emergency treatment. Local authorities and functional forces were also present at the scene to overcome the consequences, prune fallen trees and ensure traffic safety on the route.
According to Mr. Y Ơm Ênuôl, the fallen tree is a Săng Đào tree (also known as Sao đá or Chò kiền kiền), about 100 years old, with a trunk diameter of nearly 1m and more than 25m high.
This is a precious wood tree, with a strong trunk, smooth wood fibers and high durability. Previously, the E De people often used Sang Dao wood to make kpan chairs - a traditional long chair associated with cultural life and community activities.
After the tree fell, functional forces and people saw the tree trunk into many sections to move to the side of the road, ensuring traffic flow.
According to local people, this Song Dao tree has existed for decades in the Buon Ky wharf area and is considered a part of the traditional cultural space of the village.
