On March 18, the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DONRE) of Hue City said that the unit had just had results of monitoring the quality of coastal marine waters in the area of coastal lumpy oil in Phu Loc district (phase 2 and phase 3).
Accordingly, in order to monitor the quality of the marine environment after the incident, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hue City continues to survey and monitor marine water samples at locations where clump oil appears to analyze and evaluate water quality.
The second batch of samples is sea water in Lang Co, Minh Vien eco-tourism area, Binh An beach, Laguna tourism area, Loc Binh beach.
Round 3 is the sea water of Lap An Lagoon area, Lang Co sea water, Minh Vien tourist area, Chan May Port, Binh An beach, Angsana - Laguna hotel beach.
The evaluation parameters are pH and mineral oil, compared according to QCVN 10:2023/BTNMT - National Technical Regulation on Seawater Quality.
According to monitoring results, the phenomenon of coarse oil has decreased significantly, the amount of oil drifting ashore has been collected and thoroughly treated. The results of seafood sample testing showed that the pH and mineral oil parameters were all standard, and the mineral oil at the sampling locations was below the detection threshold.
Thus, the oil splash incident does not affect the quality of coastal waters and lagoons.
Mr. Phan Cong Man - Chairman of Phu Loc District People's Committee added that after confirming the safety of the sea water, fishermen's fishing and exploitation activities have returned to normal.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 10:00 a.m. on February 24, during a patrol, the Border Guard of Hue City discovered black crude oil drifting ashore in many areas, including: Phu Hai Village, Loc Vinh Commune; An Cu Dong 2 Residential Group to Lap An Residential Group, Lang Co Town. The total length of the affected area is about 7km.
Recognizing this as a serious environmental incident, the Hue City Border Guard Command mobilized dozens of officers and soldiers to coordinate with the environmental SOS Center and the Central Oil spill response Center to collect coarse oil.
