On the afternoon of October 30, Mr. Phan Minh Dan, Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai Department of Health, said that at 3:30 p.m. the same day, the Department of Health received urgent information from the Son Tay District Medical Center about the case of pregnant woman D.T.D. (16 years old), pregnant in her 38th week, was hospitalized in a state of severe preeclampsia.
To save the patient, the only option was cesarean section. However, due to complicated medical conditions, the mother needed to be urgently transferred to the Quang Ngai Province Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital. Meanwhile, the road from Son Tay commune to the provincial center is seriously eroded due to prolonged floods, making travel extremely difficult.
In the face of emergency situations, the health sector coordinated with functional forces and local authorities to use hammocks and carrying a female iceberge across many landslides to bring the patient to safety, ensuring emergency care took place as quickly as possible.
By the evening of October 30, the Quang Ngai Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital said that pregnant woman D.T.D. had a successful emergency surgery. The baby boy was born healthy, weighing 2.8 kg. The mother's health has now passed the critical stage and is continuing to be monitored and cared for after giving birth.
