On March 26, Hai An Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard) confirmed that it had coordinated with forces to extinguish the forest fire.
Previously, a forest fire occurred on March 25, in the melaleuca forest area of Tay Tan An village, My Thuy commune.
According to initial information, at 1:30 PM on the same day, when a fire broke out in the melaleuca forest area, Hai An Border Guard Station received a report.
Immediately after that, the unit sent a working group of 15 officers and soldiers to quickly maneuver to the scene.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Cuong - Commander of Hai An Border Guard Station directly commanded and closely coordinated with the military force of My Thuy commune to deploy fire fighting measures.
At the scene, due to dry weather conditions and thick vegetation, the fire is at risk of spreading if not controlled in time. Faced with that situation, the forces urgently cordoned off the area, using manual fire fighting measures combined with creating firebreaks to limit the fire from spreading to the surrounding area.
With a high sense of responsibility, close coordination between forces and determination to quickly control the fire, by about 2:25 pm on the same day, the fire was basically completely extinguished.
According to records, the affected forest area is about 3,500m2, mainly melaleuca forest. Damage is assessed at a limited level thanks to the quick and effective firefighting efforts of functional forces.
Currently, the cause of the fire is being further verified and clarified by functional agencies.
