On the morning of October 27, the Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard Command said that Roon Border Guard Station promptly detected and coordinated with other forces to extinguish a protective forest fire in the area under the unit's responsibility.
Previously, at 12:00 on October 26, officers at the Hon La Port Border Control Station discovered a fire in the forest behind Vung Chua - Yen Island in Dong Hung village (Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district).
Roon Border Guard Station informed the local authorities and mobilized 20 officers and soldiers, along with government officials, forest protection forces, police, commune military and people to coordinate in fighting the forest fire.
By 5:00 p.m. the same day, the forces had controlled and extinguished the fire area.
According to initial assessment, the cause was due to people burning vegetation uncontrollably, allowing the fire to spread to the protective forest.
Authorities are currently assessing the damage.
