On the evening of October 20, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuy Nguyen district, (Hai Phong) said that at 2:00 p.m., a fire suddenly broke out at Son Dao mountain, in Thuy Duong commune, bordering Thuy Son commune, Thuy Nguyen district.
According to Mr. Hoang, due to dry weather, wind, and fallen trees after storm No. 3, the fire broke out and spread. The estimated area of the fire is about 5 - 7 hectares.
As soon as receiving news of the fire, the People's Committee of Thuy Nguyen district mobilized 300 officers, firefighters, military, civil defense forces, and people to extinguish the fire.
By 8:30 p.m., the fire was contained to prevent it from spreading.
It is known that the forest in Son Dao mountain is partly assigned to people to plant trees, and partly managed by the local government.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
