During the April 30 - May 1 holidays, the atmosphere at the Dong Dang (Lang Son) - Tra Linh (Cao Bang) expressway project construction site is still urgent and bustling.
Thousands of engineers, workers and machinery are operating continuously, sticking to the construction site with the goal of technical traffic opening phase 1 on May 19, 2026.
On the entire route, contractors have mobilized more than 2,000 personnel, deploying 93 bridge, tunnel and road foundation construction teams. Many units organize construction through holidays, overtime, and shifts, taking advantage of favorable weather to accelerate progress.
At construction point No. 3, section Km63+660 - Km68+525 through the high and dangerous mountainous terrain, Construction Investment Group 568 Joint Stock Company arranged dozens of excavators, bulldozers, rollers and transport vehicles to drill and break rocks, dig and reclaim roadbeds. Nearly 100% of officials and workers registered to work during the holiday to complete a volume of more than 1 million m3 of rock according to the plan.
Not only the roadbed sections, intersections, and key items are also continuously being constructed.
At Km26 (Lang Son), the work of spreading the base layer of the roadbed was deployed simultaneously, and the spreading machine and roller lines operated smoothly.
Each construction crew consists of dozens of workers who closely coordinate to ensure progress.
This is the final sprint stage, so the brothers are determined to stick to the machine, taking advantage of every sunny hour to increase output," shared an operating worker.
In the mountain tunnel item, especially the That Khe tunnel, the main works have been basically completed. Currently, units are focusing on constructing the drainage system, preparing for the asphalt concrete paving phase and installing operating equipment.
The entire project has now reached about 74% of the construction contract value. Four large-capacity asphalt concrete paving lines have been mobilized to accelerate the road surface completion progress. Some sections of the route are also being expanded from 17m to 22m on a complete scale.
Mr. Dang Tien Thang - General Director of the project enterprise - said that the immediate goal is to technically open the Tan Thanh - Dong Khe section on May 19, the remaining sections will be opened to traffic on the roadbed. "During the holiday, the entire construction site still maintains a high construction pace, focusing on the roadbed, crushed stone base and asphalt paving," Mr. Thang said.
On May 1st, Vice Chairman of Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee Hoang Van Thach and the working delegation directly came to the construction site to visit and encourage the construction force at many key points, including sections Km44, Km53, Km59 and That Khe tunnel.
Here, provincial leaders acknowledged and praised the sense of responsibility of contractors, engineers, workers and military forces who did not mind holidays and stayed at the construction site.
At the same time, requesting units to continue to organize reasonable construction, ensure progress and quality, and pay special attention to the lives and regimes of workers during peak periods.

The Dong Dang - Tra Linh expressway project is a key national transport project, of great significance for socio-economic development in the Northeast region.
