At around 7pm, residents discovered black smoke coming from an apartment on the 11th floor of GM2 block. A few minutes later, the smoke spread rapidly, covering the outside of the 22-storey Golden Maison building.
Mr. Minh, a resident here, said: "When I got home from work and heard the alarm ring, I immediately knocked on the door to call my neighbors and ran down with everyone. The smoke was thick, only the escape lights could be ignored. Luckily, the fire department arrived in time, if it was later, it would be very dangerous.

Three fire trucks and dozens of firefighters quickly arrived, controlling the fire after 10 minutes. Firefighting forces simultaneously searched the entire building to ensure that there were no more people trapped. Three ambulances were also mobilized to the scene, ready for medical support.

An officer of the Ho Chi Minh City Fire Police Department said that the fire was controlled promptly, with no casualties. The initial cause is being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
