Mr. Tam, a resident living near the scene, said that the fire was discovered at about 2 pm at a wood workshop in Phuoc Hau ward.
In just a short time, the fire broke out strongly, a column of black smoke rose tens of meters high, causing many people to panic. Immediately after that, firefighters were present at the scene, deploying firefighting measures and ensuring the safety of the area.
An officer of the Fire and Rescue Police Department of Vinh Long Province said that the unit had mobilized 3 fire trucks and many officers and soldiers to the scene immediately after receiving the news.
After about 30 minutes of approaching and deploying firefighting plans, functional forces basically controlled the fire, preventing it from spreading to two adjacent houses.
According to the official, firefighting work faced many difficulties because the workshop contained many flammable materials such as wood, paper and materials for production. After controlling the fire, functional forces continued to spray water to cool down and extinguish embers to prevent the fire from re-igniting.
