On February 23rd, recorded by Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Vieng market (also known as Vieng Phu market), meets stretching from the old Goi town along National Highway 37B, Vu Ban commune to Hien Khanh commune. On the main festival day, Vieng market is already crowded with people. Rows of people stretch through market alleys, jostling to choose goods with the desire to "buy good luck, sell bad luck", praying for a new year of wealth and peace. As evening approaches, the flow of people flocking to Vieng market becomes more and more crowded.
Unlike ordinary markets, Vieng market only meets once a year at the beginning of Spring. Marketgoers are not too concerned about profit or loss, but mainly buy a piece of goods for good luck. Displayed, introduced, and traded items are a variety of products and utensils such as: seedlings, agricultural tools, handicrafts and household appliances.

Ms. Le Thi Bich (a tourist from Hanoi) said that her family departed at 4 am to be in time for Vieng market on the main festival day. "Although it's crowded and it's quite hard to jostle, everyone is happy. I bought a small pot of plants and some veal meat for good luck. The important thing is that the atmosphere at the beginning of the year is very bustling, creating a feeling of excitement," Ms. Bich said.
Along the roads around the market area, functional forces are arranged to divert traffic and ensure security and order.
In addition, establishing long-range checkpoints, traffic diversion and ensuring security and order, traffic safety, fire and explosion prevention, preventing gambling, theft and other illegal acts taking place during the festival. Although the number of people flocking is large, the situation is basically controlled, not allowing prolonged congestion.
This year, to serve the needs of people and tourists from all directions, the Vieng Phu Market Festival 2026 will be opened on the evening of the 6th day of Tet and last until the 8th day of the first lunar month.
